Grants to National and Regional Organizations Support Military and Veteran Caregiver Programs

Washington, D.C.  – National nonprofit, Code of Support Foundation, was awarded a grant from the Elizabeth Dole Foundation’s Hidden Heroes Fund today, to continue its efforts in assisting military and veteran caregivers through one-on-one case management support. Code of Support Foundation is among thirteen organizations nationwide receiving funding for innovative and evidence-based programs that address the long-term needs of military caregivers, the spouses, parents, and loved ones caring for wounded, ill or injured service members and veterans at home.

“Through the Hidden Heroes Fund, the Elizabeth Dole Foundation continues to build a strong, nationwide network of support for America’s military caregivers,” announced Senator Elizabeth Dole, president of the Elizabeth Dole Foundation. “This year’s recipients are some of the most respected organizations working on behalf of the veterans’ community and caregivers, and together, they will help ensure our nation supports our hidden heroes for years to come.”

As a result of the grant, Code of Support Foundation’s Case Coordination program will be able to continue to offer caregiver peer navigator services through military caregiver Marjorie Pennington. She will provide critical, high-quality services to those caregivers who connect with Code of Support Foundation through the Elizabeth Dole Foundation’s Hidden Heroes Campaign. Mrs. Pennington is excited to continue her work with service members, veterans, caregivers, and families to overcome life’s risks and seize the opportunity to reclaim and sustain their quality of life.

“Code of Support Foundation is thrilled to continue its partnership with the Elizabeth Dole Foundation as a 2018 Hidden Heroes grant recipient,” said Kristina Kaufmann Executive Director, Code of Support Foundation. “Code of Support understands the invaluable impact that caregivers have on the veteran community they serve. This Elizabeth Dole Foundation’s Hidden Heroes grant will ensure that military and veteran caregivers in crisis will have someone with whom they can truly relate while receiving quality holistic one-on-one support.”
