Sometimes, life’s hardships can have a domino effect – once one falls, the rest fall down too. Here at Code of Support, it is our job to help our nation’s heroes break the cycle and pick up those pieces. Last year, this lovely family came to us when the pieces felt like too much to handle. Thankfully, we were able to step in to provide hope and comfort for the future. Here is their story, in their own words:

“I purchased my home three years ago to move my family closer together while my mom fights terminal kidney cancer. Soon after moving, we discovered a previously undisclosed issue with our septic system. It was going to be a costly repair. For two years I struggled to solve the problem on my own.

During this difficult time, I was forced to file for chapter 13 bankruptcy which left my options very slim. I contacted every organization I could think of to find help, to no avail. I had almost lost hope. When I was finally I was referred to Code of Support, I felt like there was finally hope again. After working together for a couple of months I received a call explaining that they had found the funding for the project and it felt as if the weight of the world was lifted off my shoulders in that moment. I could now spend my time enjoying what time we have left with my mom, in a home that is safe for her.

My family and I are incredibly humbled and grateful for the compassion shown to me by complete strangers. Words cannot express how it felt when I realized that I wasn’t forgotten and that there are still good people who support our wounded veterans. From the bottom of my heart, thank you so very much.”

You are not alone. There is always a solution to picking up the pieces. Let us help you find it.
