The Code of Support Foundation (COSF) proudly announces a new addition to its national Advisory Board:  DJ Skelton, USA(ret).

“Mr. Skelton brings a unique perspective to our work at Code of Support to serve military and veteran families in need.  His first-hand experience in service to our country and long history of advocacy on behalf of wounded warriors will inform our efforts to reach and serve more of those who have served our country,” said COSF Co-Founder and CEO, Kristina Kaufmann.

Mr. Skelton is a veteran of the United States Army, enlisted in 1996. Upon graduation from West Point in 2003, Mr. Skelton was commissioned as a Second Lieutenant, going on to graduate from the Infantry Officer Basic Course and Airborne school.

In November 2004, in close combat in Iraq, Mr. Skelton was severely wounded. During his recovery, he dedicated himself to advancing the causes of wounded veterans, a passion he now brings to the Code of Support Advisory Board. He wrote Our Hero Handbook, a comprehensive guide to assist wounded service members and their families during recovery and rehabilitation, and went on to serve as a Military Advisor to Deputy Secretary of Defense Gordon England, providing advice on veterans’ affairs and caring for wounded service members.

Mr. Skelton later served in the Pentagon, where he was Special Assistant to the Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff, advising ADM Mike Mullen on veteran transition issues, wounded warrior policy, and improving services to military families. At that time, Mr. Skelton concurrently served as a Non-Resident Military Fellow at the Center for a New American Security, leading the “silent wounds” project on post-traumatic growth.

Among his other noteworthy accomplishments, Mr. Skelton is one of the youngest graduates of Harvard’s Senior Executive Fellowship Program and a graduate of Stanford University’s GSB Ignite Program. Mr. Skelton is also the Founder of Paradox Sports– a non-profit organization that revolutionizes lives through adaptive outdoor opportunities that defy convention, empowering others in their pursuit of a life of excellence.

Mr. Skelton is currently serving as Special Assistant to the Assistant Secretary of Defense for Health Affairs, in addition to his post as a United States-Japan Leadership Fellow. He frequently speaks publicly on the topics of leadership, resilience, and motivation.

“It is my pleasure to join the Advisory Board for Code of Support Foundation at this critical time in service to my fellow veterans and active duty soldiers. I look forward to the opportunity to continue to give back to those who have paid the highest price for our freedoms and deserve every resource and support available,” said Mr. Skelton.

DJ Skelton joins COSF Advisory Board Members:  Medal of Honor Recipient Col. ® Harvey (Barney) Barnum, Jr. USMC, Frmr Vice chief of Staff of the US Gen. John Campbell, Frmr Head Coach for Duke Basketball Mike “Coach K” Krzyzewski, and Celebrity Chef Robert Irvine, among others leaders in military and veteran service.
