What is your favorite part of being a Case Manager?

My favorite part of my job is helping veterans and their families, one on one, finding the resources they need to ease their lives and let them know they are not alone.

What are some tasks you do daily?

Some of my tasks are to assess clients’ needs and research resources that will help cover those needs. Every day, I advocate for clients and try to give a little relief to their already stressful situations.

How has being a military caregiver impacted your work?

Being a military caregiver has first helped me to be compassionate to the needs of others, and second given me the strength to be able to advocate for others. Because of my experience as a military caregiver, I know first-hand the gaps present when looking for support, and I know the resources that veterans need. I love being a Case Manager because it allows me to link clients to the benefits they deserve.

Who inspires you?

Several people inspire me. First is my husband, because he never gives up even when he is at his lowest. He is always willing to stand back up and is open to any help he receives to get better for his family. Marjorie Pennington inspires me because of her leadership and compassion, and Beverly Poyer for her tenacity, big heart, and willingness to always be ready to help. I am inspired by every veteran who has the courage to fight the battle after their injuries, those who never give up, and the caregivers that are by their side guiding and supporting them 100%.
