Rory Brosius, Vice President, ScoutComms

Rory Brosius is a Vice President at ScoutComms, with a focus on corporate social responsibility, health and wellness, non-profit programs, public and community relations, and project management.

Prior to joining ScoutComms, Rory served as the senior policy adviser to First Lady Michelle Obama and Dr. Jill Biden at the White House where she was the Deputy Director of Joining Forces, a national initiative launched to engage all sectors of society to support our service members, veterans, and their families. Throughout her tenure, the initiative achieved success in advancing veteran and military spouse hiring efforts, reducing veteran homelessness, and engaging the healthcare and educational communities in support of service members, veterans, and their families. In her role, Rory developed, planned and hosted dozens of strategic public and private engagements for Mrs. Obama and Dr. Biden, increasing the visibility of Joining Forces and furthering the mission to engage all Americans in concrete efforts to support the military and veteran community. In addition to her policy responsibilities, she also drafted messaging for print, broadcast, and social media communications including cover stories for several national magazines as well as TV and film appearances for Mrs. Obama and Dr. Biden.

Prior to joining the Obama Administration and while completing her Master’s degree, Rory completed clinical social work training with Casa De Amparo in San Diego, California, and the Mobile Mental Health Crisis team in Washington, DC. She also served as a Match Support Specialist for Big Brothers Big Sisters of San Diego County. Rory also served as a civilian employee for both the Marine Corps and the Army.

At the beginning of her career, Brosius served in both development and management roles in non-profit organizations and academic research institutions. At both George Mason University and the Burnham Institute for Cancer Research (now the Sanford Burnham Prebys Medical Discovery Institute), Brosius managed multi-million-dollar grant proposals for scientific research.

A military spouse and social worker by training, Brosius specializes in military family policy and has appeared on panels discussing topics such as: public private partnerships, caregiving, military spouse career development and mental health. She has also been a guest lecturer for Columbia University’s School of Social Work. Rory holds a bachelor’s degree from Clemson University and a Master’s of Social Work from the University of Southern California. She is the recipient of a Presidential Volunteer Service Award, the Army Achievement Medal for Civilian Service, and a Marine Corps Certificate of Commendation. Rory Serves on the Board of Bastion Community of Resilience in New Orleans and is a “6 Certified” Selection Committee member for Got Your 6.
