2023 Summer PATRIOTlink® Research Specialist Intern

Code of Support Foundation (COSF) is a veteran service organization that provides essential one-on-one assistance to service members, veterans, and their families. COSF operates three programs – Case Coordination, PATRIOTlink®, and Education and Engagement. The Case Coordination program works one-on-one with clients to help them find the resources they need, while our PATRIOTlink program offers an online solution to find resources. The Education and Engagement program works to increase public awareness and appreciation of the service and sacrifice of military and veteran families.

COSF seeks an intern for (20 hours per week) to assist with the PATRIOTlink program. Specifically, PATRIOTlink is an online resource navigation tool that is designed for service members, veterans, caregivers and military families to use to find resources they need. This database houses thousands of free, vetted, direct resources that help tens of thousands of users – all thanks to our phenomenal PATRIOTlink team.

The position start date is flexible, and will last approximately 10 weeks. The ideal candidate is a self-motivator who enjoys working with a small team and is looking to gain technology and non-profit experience.

This is a PAID internship through the Federal Work Study Program, OR this is a PAID internship with a $2000 STIPEND for the entire 10 week period, and this opportunity is fully virtual.

Major Responsibilities – The PATRIOTlink internship will focus on data management, quality control, and project administration. Internship may include:

  • Data entry and maintenance in PATRIOTlink;
  • Assist with PATRIOTlink demos to potential partners and users;
  • Research and identify new resources to add to PATRIOTlink;
  • Research and identify new potential partnerships for PATRIOTlink;
  • Researching statistics on the military/veteran population to be used in presentations, grant proposals, and promotional materials;
  • Drafting, proofreading, and editing social media posts specific to PATRIOTlink;
  • Develop a working knowledge of non-profit functions;
  • Opportunity to identify other opportunities and pursue them as available.

Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in an accredited undergraduate or graduate institution
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google Suite applications
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Inclination to solve problems using technology
  • Ability to work independently in a timely and efficient manner
  • Familiarity with veterans and military family issues strongly desirable
  • Experience with database management is a plus
