Rachel is the wife and caregiver to her husband Ronald, a post-9/11 disabled veteran. They have three children ages (3 years, 2 years, and 4 months old) and live in Hamilton, New Jersey. Ronald suffered an in-service injury in 2016, which resulted in Traumatic Brain Injury. Despite this injury, Ronald was not given a medical discharge status (instead receiving an “general discharge under honorable conditions”). This misclassification prevented the family from receiving necessary transition benefits. These issues, compounded with losing their housing on base, and the usual stressors of raising three young children, created enormous stress.
With no where else to turn, Rachel reached out to Code of Support for financial assistance. We were able to provide this wonderful, hard working family with assistance for food, and are working to identify additional resources to help them towards transition benefits.
